Probably because people are too busy to cook healthier meals, and too cheap to buy something more expensive, but healthy. So they turn to fast food. It's cheap, and it's quick. But that's not an excuse. I would rather spend a bit more money and a bit more time to get something good for me, than to get something quick, cheap, and of low quality. I don't think the government should get involved. The government is what runs the country, but they shouldn't have to be parents to a bunch of adults. If they want to be fat, that's their problem.

Many of these obese people also like to blame others for their problems. Either they got teased and food is what comforted them or their parents raised them like this. In the end, it's your fault that you ended up like this and it's your fault that you continue to be like this. I know how hard it is to fight against things like this when you're young and alone. But in the end, you need to be the one to solve your problem. Sure get help if you need it, but don't complain and blame people. The more you blame people, the less things get done.

*edit*
I just remembered that there was a story about a woman who tried to sue McDonalds because she chose to eat the food and become fat. Again, it's her fault, not theirs. Obviously she lost the case and McDonalds continues to exist, but at least they offer healthier alternatives now.
