thoughts/opinions on obesity?

questions to consider

if it shown to have no significant effects on health, how do you think this will influence the social stigma against excessive weight. How large of an impact would this finding have on the weight loss industry? Think of everyone who eats fast food everyday as a part of their diet and people that are too lazy to exercise. How many of our feelings do you think are based on scientific truths?

    *shudder*

It DOES have significant effects on health.

If it was shown not to, it would still be aesthetically displeasing.

The weight loss industry ARE cashing in on the whole phenomenon and they suck. Nevertheless, excluding cancer and malnutrition (i.e. while you remain within the bounds of good health) it is statistically better to have a lower BMI.

Most of our feelings are based on social conditioning, rather than scientific truths.

However, scientific truth happens to back up my social conditioning here.
