"WASHINGTON – Kellogg Co., the world’s largest cereal maker, has agreed to raise the nutritional value of cereals and snacks it markets to children.

The Battle Creek, Mich., company avoided a lawsuit threatened by parents and nutrition advocacy groups worried about increasing child obesity. Kellogg intends to formally announce its decision Thursday."
What is wrong with you PEOPLE, you got fat by yourselves by eating like dogs, not looking what you are eating and demending better foods. Just like truly Americans, you always point at somebody else. Shame on you.
IT’S YOUR FALUT DEAR AMERICNA PEOPLE, NOT THE COMPANIES. EDUCATE YOURSELVES.
Yep, I agree…
No, No, No, not the TV again!!
The character, or rather lack of it is to blame.
I love TV and I could spend hours watchin it, yet I am not even overweight.
AND, I am 42Y/O

Do you think having an seriously overweight child can be a form of child abuse?

Posted by beeman | Obesity In Children | Wednesday 25 November 2009 6:31 pm

Sometimes it makes me so sad when I see severely overweight adults (which it is there right if they want to live that way) raising young severly overweight children. It just makes me sad that this isnt considered a form of child abuse. They are most likely setting that child up for years of health problems like juvenile diabetes, asthma, heart conditions, and even mental illnesses like low self esteem.

What do you think should be done to help curb child obesity?
typo/clarification: (which it is their right (the parents) to live their life how they want to)

What causes a teen to be overweight?

Posted by beeman | Obesity In Children | Friday 13 November 2009 1:29 pm

Today we see that teen or child obesity has increased in the last twenty years, and that this problem is becoming worse, but does anyone really know the different causes. We all know that obesity is caused by doing no physical activity and eating large amounts of food, but my concern is that some teens or children who are not obese are doing the same,so that tells us that obesity is controlled by the environment. So off course that tells us when parents are obese one or two means that the child has a very high percentage of becoming obese or overweight. How can we change the teens or the childs confidence or attitude so that they can be positive and start making a change by losing weight and becoming healthy, not skinny? The future will be very scary if no one will start to make a change in the eating habits. We all know that teens and children are our future and that thats why we must care.So what can teens and children do to change their lifestyle and their eating habits.Thank you for you.

Obese children and free Gym memberships in S. Korea?

Posted by beeman | Obesity In Children | Thursday 5 November 2009 6:08 pm

I just read an article about how the government of South Korea is sponsoring gym memberships (among other things) for the overweight children in the country. Considering that the US is among the most obese countries in the world, should we adapt a similar program to target child obesity?

Childhood Obesity. Your Child. ?

Posted by beeman | Health Effects Of Obesity | Friday 25 September 2009 5:14 am

I am in my last year of high school and am currently completely a special studies assignment for my Early Childhood studies class.
The assignment is worth 30% and requires an investigation with a survey.
My special studies is on childhood obesity focusing on children 0 to 6 years of age. It would be very helpful if any parents or guardians of overweight children
could complete this survey or answer as many questions as possible.
It is quite difficult for me to communicate with parents of obese children In person.. Obviously because of the sensitive and personal nature of the topic and if anyone
could give up a few minutes and answer these questions it would be much appreciated.

Also if you yourself were obese as a child or overweight it would be great if you too could answer this survey just by applying the questions to yourself.

note: I will delete the survey after a week and any responses to the questionnaire will be treated confidentially. Thank you.
