I believe fast food outlets are a fast track to obesity because they really do not offer quality products and many of them offer little in reguard to healthier choices for consumers. Obviously, the goal is profit, so in my experience working in fast food, I have noted the ingredients in many items are mostly fillers, salts, fats and sugars. Even the meats are of a lower quality and treated for flavour and freshness.
Also, the prices and deals offered by many fast food outlets are attractive to consumers. Many people negate health over price, as there are few healthy choices offered at affordable prices.
By comparison, a $1.00 cheeseburger seems more filling than an apple and a $0.59 cents cup of yogurt at the market. It is also far more convenient, as they provide the food to you inside your car or inside their unit, whereas at a grocery you would have to hunt for your lunch.
